Replace Delta Bathroom Sink Faucet Cartridge
Faucet cartridges are essential components of bathroom sinks, controlling the flow and temperature of water. Over time, these cartridges can wear out and need to be replaced. In this article, we will provide a comprehensive guide to replacing a Delta bathroom sink faucet cartridge.
Step 1: Gather Tools and Materials
Before starting, gather the necessary tools and materials, including a new Delta faucet cartridge, a pair of pliers, a Phillips head screwdriver, a flathead screwdriver, and a cloth or towel.
Step 2: Turn Off Water Supply
Locate the water supply valves under the sink and turn them off to prevent water from flowing during the replacement process.
Step 3: Remove Handle
Use the set screw on the handle to remove it. Remove the handle by gently pulling it straight up from the faucet base.
Step 4: Remove Escutcheon
Behind the handle, locate the escutcheon and remove it by unscrewing it using a Philips head screwdriver.
Step 5: Remove Trim Cap
Beneath the escutcheon, there will be a trim cap. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry it off.
Step 6: Remove Cartridge
Using a pair of pliers, grasp the cartridge nut and turn it counterclockwise to remove the cartridge. If the nut is stuck, gently tap it with a hammer and try again.
Step 7: Install New Cartridge
Align the new cartridge with the faucet base and insert it into the opening. Hand-tighten the cartridge nut until it is snug.
Step 8: Replace Trim Cap
Replace the trim cap by pressing it back into place.
Step 9: Replace Escutcheon
Screw the escutcheon back into place.
Step 10: Reattach Handle
Align the handle with the faucet base and slide it down until it clicks into place. Tighten the set screw to secure the handle.
Step 11: Turn On Water Supply
Turn on the water supply valves under the sink and check for any leaks. If there are leaks, tighten any loose connections.
Step 12: Test Faucet
Turn on the faucet and test its functionality. Ensure that the water flows smoothly and that the temperature control is working properly.
