How To Install Sink Drain Pipe

P-trap
Slip nuts

Step 2: Remove the old drain pipe

If you are replacing an old drain pipe, you will need to remove it before you can install the new one. To do this, use a wrench to loosen the slip nuts that connect the drain pipe to the sink and the P-trap. Once the slip nuts are loose, you can pull the old drain pipe off of the sink and the P-trap.

Step 3: Install the new drain pipe

To install the new drain pipe, first apply a bead of plumber's putty to the rim of the sink drain hole. Then, insert the drain pipe into the hole and tighten the slip nuts by hand. Once the slip nuts are hand-tight, use a wrench to tighten them further, but do not overtighten them.

Step 4: Install the P-trap

The P-trap is a U-shaped pipe that helps to prevent sewer gases from entering your home. To install the P-trap, first insert the bottom end of the P-trap into the drain pipe.
