Hooking Washer Up To Sink

Connecting a washing machine to a sink is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few hours. By following these instructions, you can save yourself the cost of hiring a plumber.

Before you begin, gather the following materials:

Washing machine
Sink
Faucet
Washer hoses
Teflon tape
Wrench
Screwdriver

Step 1: Prepare the sink.
Start by turning off the water supply to the sink. Then, disconnect the faucet from the sink. Next, remove the aerator from the faucet. The aerator is the small, screen-like device that is located at the end of the faucet. Once the aerator is removed, you will see a threaded nipple. This is where you will connect the washer hose.

Step 2: Connect the washer hoses.
Take one of the washer hoses and wrap the threads with Teflon tape. Then, screw the hose onto the threaded nipple on the faucet. Tighten the hose by hand until it is snug. Do not overtighten the hose, as this could damage the threads.

Step 3: Connect the washer to the sink.
Take the other washer hose and wrap the threads with Teflon tape. Then, screw the hose onto the back of the washing machine. Tighten the hose by hand until it is snug. Do not overtighten the hose, as this could damage the threads.

Step 4: Turn on the water supply.
Once the washer hoses are connected, turn on the water supply to the sink. Check for leaks at the connections. If you see any leaks, tighten the hoses until the leaks stop.

Step 5: Test the washing machine.
Run a small load of laundry to test the washing machine. Make sure that the washer fills with water and drains properly.

Congratulations! You have now successfully connected your washing machine to your sink.

Additional tips:

If you are not comfortable connecting the washing machine yourself, you can hire a plumber to do it for you.
Be sure to use Teflon tape on all of the connections. This will help to prevent leaks.
