How To Clean Hats In Sink

With regular wear, hats can accumulate dirt, sweat, and other debris. Fortunately, most hats can be easily cleaned in the sink with a few simple steps.

Materials needed:

  • Sink
  • Lukewarm water
  • Mild detergent or hat cleaning solution
  • Clean cloth or sponge
  • Hairdryer (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the hat: If the hat has any detachable components, such as a brim or a liner, remove them before cleaning. Flip the hat inside out to expose the lining.
  2. Fill the sink: Plug the sink and fill it with lukewarm water. Add a small amount of mild detergent or hat cleaning solution to the water and stir until dissolved.
  3. Submerge the hat: Gently submerge the hat in the water and swish it around to remove any loose dirt or debris. Allow the hat to soak for a few minutes to loosen any stubborn stains.
  4. Clean the hat: Use a clean cloth or sponge to gently scrub the hat, inside and out. Pay special attention to areas that are particularly dirty or stained.
  5. Rinse the hat: Rinse the hat thoroughly with clean water to remove any detergent or cleaning solution residue. Avoid wringing or twisting the hat, as this can damage the material.
  6. Dry the hat: If possible, air-dry the hat by placing it on a towel or in a well-ventilated area. You can also use a hairdryer to speed up the drying process, but be sure to use a low heat setting to avoid damaging the material.
  7. Reassemble the hat: Once the hat is completely dry, reassemble any components that were removed before cleaning.
