How to Hook Garden Hose To Sink

A garden hose can be a convenient way to water your plants, clean your car, or fill up a pool. But if you don't have a spigot outside, you may need to hook the hose up to your kitchen sink. Here's how to do it:

Materials you'll need:

Garden hose

Sink aerator

Female hose adapter

Wrench

Steps:

1. Turn off the water supply to your sink. This is usually done by turning the handles on the faucet clockwise until they stop. 2. Remove the sink aerator. The aerator is the small, screen-like device that is attached to the end of the faucet. It can usually be removed by hand, but you may need to use a wrench if it is tight. 3. Attach the female hose adapter to the sink aerator. The female hose adapter is a brass fitting that has a male thread on one end and a female thread on the other end. Screw the male thread of the adapter into the female thread of the sink aerator. 4. Attach the garden hose to the female hose adapter. Screw the male thread of the garden hose onto the female thread of the hose adapter. 5. Turn on the water supply to your sink. Check for leaks at all of the connections. If you find any leaks, tighten the connections until they stop. 6. Use the garden hose as needed. When you are finished using the hose, turn off the water supply to the sink and detach the hose.

Tips:

If you don't have a female hose adapter, you can use a male hose adapter and a short piece of pipe to connect the garden hose to the sink aerator.

If you have a kitchen sink with two handles, you can only use the cold water handle to connect the garden hose. The hot water handle will not work because it is connected to a different water supply line.

Be careful not to overtighten the connections. Overtightening can damage the fittings.
