Kitchen Sink Not Draining But Pipes Clear

A clogged kitchen sink is a common household problem that can be frustrating to deal with. If you've tried plunging and snaking the drain but the water is still not draining, it's possible that the pipes are clear but there is another issue causing the blockage. Here are a few things to check:

1. Check the garbage disposal. If you have a garbage disposal, it's possible that it is jammed or clogged. Try resetting the disposal by pressing the reset button on the bottom of the unit. If that doesn't work, you can try using a wrench to manually turn the blades. Be careful not to put your hand down the disposal while it is running.

2. Check the P-trap. The P-trap is the U-shaped pipe that is located under the sink. It is designed to trap debris and prevent it from entering the drainpipes. Over time, the P-trap can become clogged with grease, hair, and other debris. To clean the P-trap, you will need to remove it from the sink. Place a bucket under the P-trap to catch any water that may leak out. Then, use a wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the P-trap in place. Once the P-trap is removed, you can clean it out with a brush or a pair of pliers.

3. Check the vent stack. The vent stack is a pipe that runs from the sink to the roof. It is designed to allow air to enter the drainpipes, which helps to prevent clogs. If the vent stack is blocked, it can cause the sink to drain slowly or not at all. To check the vent stack, you can go outside and look for a pipe that is sticking out of the roof. If the pipe is clogged, you can try clearing it out with a wire hanger or a garden hose.

4. Call a plumber. If you have tried all of the above steps and the sink is still not draining, it's time to call a plumber. A plumber will be able to use a drain snake or a hydro jet to clear the clog.
