How To Mount Pedestal Sink

A pedestal sink can be a beautiful and space-saving addition to any bathroom. But if you're not careful, it can also be a bit of a pain to install. Luckily, with a few simple steps, you can have your pedestal sink up and running in no time.

Here's what you'll need:

Pedestal sink
Faucet and handles
Drain and stopper
Level
Adjustable wrench
Plumber's putty

Once you have all of your materials, you can follow these steps to install your pedestal sink.

Turn off the water supply. This is important to do before you start working on the sink, so that you don't accidentally create a leak.
Remove the old sink. If you're replacing an old sink, you'll need to remove it before you can install the new one. To do this, disconnect the water supply lines, then unscrew the nuts that are holding the sink in place.
Install the pedestal sink. Place the pedestal sink in the desired location, then level it using a level. Once the sink is level, mark the location of the mounting holes on the wall.
Drill the mounting holes. Use a drill to drill the mounting holes into the wall, then insert the anchors. Note, if you are drilling into tile, use a tile drill bit.
Mount the sink. Lift the sink onto the pedestal, then align the mounting holes with the anchors. Secure the sink in place using the screws.
Install the drain and stopper. Apply a bead of plumber's putty around the base of the drain, then insert the drain into the sink. Tighten the drain nut to secure it in place. Install the stopper in the same way.
Install the faucet and handles. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the faucet and handles. Once the faucet is installed, turn on the water supply and check for leaks.
Caulk around the base of the sink. Apply a bead of caulk around the base of the sink to seal it and prevent water damage.
