How Do You Mount An Undermount Sink To Granite

Mounting an undermount sink to granite is a relatively straightforward process that can be completed in a few hours. However, it is important to take your time and follow the instructions carefully to ensure a successful installation.

Tools and materials you will need:

  • Undermount sink
  • Granite countertop
  • Sink mounting clips
  • Silicone caulk
  • Caulk gun
  • Drill
  • 1/4-inch drill bit
  • Level
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the granite countertop. Clean the area where the sink will be mounted with a degreaser and allow it to dry completely. Use a level to make sure that the countertop is level. If it is not level, you will need to shim it up with shims or a leveling compound.
  2. Position the sink. Place the sink on the countertop and center it. Use a level to make sure that the sink is level. If it is not level, adjust the position of the sink until it is level.
  3. Trace the outline of the sink. Use a pencil to trace the outline of the sink onto the countertop. This will serve as a guide for cutting the hole for the sink.
  4. Cut the hole for the sink. Use a drill to drill a series of holes along the outline of the sink. Then, use a jigsaw to cut out the hole for the sink. Be careful not to cut too close to the edge of the countertop.
  5. Apply silicone caulk to the rim of the sink. Apply a generous bead of silicone caulk to the rim of the sink. This will help to seal the sink to the countertop and prevent leaks.
  6. Install the sink. Carefully lift the sink and place it into the hole in the countertop. Press down on the sink to make sure that it is firmly seated. Wipe away any excess silicone caulk that squeezes out from around the sink.
  7. Install the sink mounting clips. Install the sink mounting clips according to the manufacturer's instructions. These clips will help to hold the sink in place.
  8. Allow the silicone caulk to cure. Allow the silicone caulk to cure for at least 24 hours before using the sink. This will give the caulk time to dry and form a strong seal.
