How To Plumb A Kitchen Sink Drain

Plumbing a kitchen sink drain is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few hours. By following these steps, you can save yourself the cost of hiring a plumber.

Materials You Will Need:

Adjustable wrench
Pliers
Bucket
Rags
New drain assembly
Plumber's putty
Teflon tape

Step 1: Turn Off the Water Supply

Before you begin, turn off the water supply to the sink. You can do this by closing the valves under the sink or by turning off the main water supply to your home.

Step 2: Remove the Old Drain Assembly

Turn on the water supply to the sink. Check for leaks around the drain assembly and the drain pipe. If you find any leaks, tighten the nuts that hold the drain assembly and the drain pipe in place.
